Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 9:1-8. It is easy to speak words and place our faith into something out in space. When the rubber hits the road and faith demands action, that is when our faith stands up and out.
“Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.”
Faith is the action backing the belief.
The greatest miracle of all is the forgiveness of our sins. In order for our sins to be forgiven required much more than just the words spoken. It required God to come to earth and sacrifice His son for all of us.
Jesus coming to earth was the action of faith that our Father would take to redeem and save His creation. For us to receive our miracles, we need to also act out the belief that we have. If we believe that God has healed us, and worked a miracle in finances or other life situations, then we should be acting out the truth of God’s miracle.
Let us stand strong and stand up firm on the promise and truth of God. He is most definitely willing and able to work His miracles, so let us stand on His promises today!
Thank you that You have demonstrated the action of faith. I have faith in You and hope because of who You are. Work Your miracles in my life today Father.
In Jesus’s Name,
