Avocado Salsa Ingredients

  • Avocados: Avocados are a great source of healthy fats and add a wonderful creamy texture to this salsa.
  • Vegetables: Cherry or Roma tomatoes, red onion, red bell pepper, and garlic.
  • Fresh cilantro: For a herby freshness. You can use fresh parsley if you don’t like the taste of cilantro.
  • Fresh Lime Juice: For a fresh and zingy flavor. Use fresh rather than bottled for the best results.
  • Seasonings: Kosher salt, ground cumin, and black pepper.

How long does it keep?

This green avocado salsa will keep well covered in the fridge for 2 days. After that time, it will still be ok to eat but the avocado will start to brown. If you are making a big batch of this for a party, you can prep the rest of the salsa and just stir in the avo an hour or two before serving so that it’s nice and fresh.

What do you serve it with?

This avocado salsa recipe is great to serve as a dip with tortilla chips and crackers, or serve it as a side or topping with your favorite main meals or protein. Try it with:

Do you mash the avocados?

This is salsa, not guacamole, so you want pieces of avocado rather than mashed. Choose ripe but firm avocados so that they don’t fall apart when you dice them and they hold their shape.

TIPS FROM NELI’S KITCHEN

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • If making ahead of time, keep the avocado salsa well covered with plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container to slow the browning process.
  • Chop everything into small similar size pieces so it combines easily and is easy to scoop.
  • If you like things spicy, try adding a few chopped jalapeños.
