31 Days of Global Flavors for National Nutrition Month: Day 6

We are knee-deep in National Nutrition Month and today we are hearing from Meghna Pandit and her favorite world flavor. 


Among all the global flavors, turmeric is one of my favorites. I love its aroma and rich color. Indian cuisine traditionally uses a lot of turmeric in its everyday dishes such as vegetables, lentils, and rice.

One of my favorite drinks is turmeric milk, which I make by mixing half a teaspoon each of turmeric powder and black pepper powder into a glass of warm milk. Combining black pepper and turmeric is beneficial since black pepper’s piperine greatly enhances turmeric’s curcumin absorption.
